Waking up and Treating Cancer Patients with Excitement and Hope for Better Targeted Drugs: Clay B. Siegall’s Routine

In an interview, Clay B. Siegall revealed his goal for each day: “wake up early to treat cancer patients with excitement and hope for better targeted drugs.” This is simply what it means to be focused; little wonder he turned out to be a monumental success. Clay B. Siegall typifies a man that is sold to a course, but there are questions begging for answer: why did he choose to make cancer patients his focus, and how far has he done in accomplishing his objective?

Clay B. Siegall provided answer to the first question in the same interview. He narrated how he had to endure serious emotional pain having to watch his father contend with cancer for five years before giving up the ghost. He was 24 years old when his father die. It was after then he started his career in targeted cancer therapies by picking up a Ph.D. in Genetics from George Washington University. It is no coincidence that the company he co-founded was given the name Seattle Genetics. From all indications, he is out to pay cancer in its own coin. The realization of his dream will definitely liberate people living at the mercy of the monster called cancer.

Before setting up Seattle Genetics, Clay B. Siegall has garner quality experience in the treatment of cancer have spent time working with the National Cancer Institute, the National Institutes of Health and Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceutical Research Institute. It is thus no surprise that Seattle Genetics is doing fantastically well under the leadership of Clay B. Siegall who has been the President, Chief Executive Officer and Board Chairman of the company since inception.

Clay B. Siegall has a whooping 15 patents to his name. I can’t remember ever hearing or reading about somebody with as much patents in contemporary times. He has received quite a number of awards in recognition of his efforts towards getting rid of cancer globally. The 2012 Pacific Northwest Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award and the 2013 University of Maryland Alumnus of the Year for Computer, Math and Natural Sciences Award are just two among numerous others.

Space will not allow one to list most of the great feats of Clay B. Siegall in the war against cancer. Even though he has the drive to go all the way, we cannot but show some appreciation.
