Thor Halvorssen, born Thor Leonardo Halvorssen Mendoza is currently a human rights activist and film producer who has earned praises from The New York Times among other organizations. The Venezuelan native is actively involved in human rights advocacy, individual and rights and civil activism and pro-democratic liberty.
Thor founded Oslo Freedom Forum and led it to become an active human rights activism body with a portfolio almost matching up with that of the Davos economic forum. The organization holds meetings once in a year to recognize the accomplishments towards human rights.
According to Forbes, Thor Halvorssen is also the president of Human Rights Foundation, the organization involved in fighting for international human rights and freedom. Mr. Halvorseen is the current patron of On Own Feet, a Czech organization in the Children’s Peace Movement.
Thor’s film career involves his launch of the Moving Picture Institute Foundation and purchase of the Ny Tid Norwegian News platform in May of 2010. His film production reputation has earned him an opportunity to appear in media forums such as The Wall Street Journal, The Nation, Time Magazine, National Public Radio, The Washington Post and The New York Times. His appearance on television was through houses such as BBC News, Al-Jazeera, Fox News Channel, Hannity & Colmes, CNN, HBO, The O’Reilly Factor, MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Mathews and also on the TEDx hosted at the University of Pennsylvania in 2010.
Early in 2016, Thor appeared in an interview with Fox News to express his views on the impact of choosing socialism in the November United States election.

He further stated that adopting a democratic government with socialism will restrict the person of the country from developing due to the fixed prices. As a result, the citizens will experience a major humanitarian problem.
According to Thor, open and free markets are a more certain way of protecting individual freedom and increasing the wealth of a nation. Mr.Halvorssen strongly advocated for the government’s protection of the properties of individual citizens and opposed the use of socialism in governing of properties. Thor has received the Sol Feinstone Award from Judith Rodin, the president of the University of Pennsylvania, for his efforts in protecting freedom of student speech.
In 2010, Thor earned the presidential silver medal from Romanian leader, Emil Constantinescu during the 10th anniversary of the Romanian Revolution.
Emil expressed his admiration for Thor’s fight to liberate people around the world.
