As the Chief Compliance Officer for one of the largest advisory firms San Francisco, Helane Morrison is part of the Hall Capital Partners, and is also a member for the company’s Executive Committee. It was described by Hall that people seemed to had lost their trust for the financial industry following the 2008 economic crash, and they had started to place finances in their own hands. However, after that phase, Hall came to the rescue the public by enforcing integrity, accountability and regulatory compliance. Morrison has been described as a sharp, assertive, hardworking and firm woman who has helped in the creation of a great impression within the compliance field. Within this, she insist that every investment that is made for clients is both ethical and solid. Through Hall, Morrison heads a team with enforcement staff. And when there is an anomaly has been suspected, the team will enforce disciplinary actions that involve the correction practices in pressing criminal charges.
Before she joined Hall Capital during 2007, Morrison held the position as head of the San Francisco Office of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, a position that
she held from 1999-2007. While working at the SEC, she was involved in the litigation matters, enforcement of securities and regulatory compliance within Northern California along with five other Northwest States for which she was the regional director. Morrison has also represented the SEC for business relations, legal issues, government agencies, and financial communities. She was also responsible with dealing with fraud cases that involved some of top executives for top companies including Hewlett-Packard, Google, HBO and NextCard Inc.. She also had a hand in exposing deceptive sale of false securities, done by the American Amicable, and insurance company for more than 50,000 military personnel. And before her position at SEC, Morrison worked and practiced law for the Howard, Rice, Nemerovski, Canady, Flak & Rabkin, where she held a position from 1986 to 1996, she was promoted to a partner in 1991.
In her early career, Morrison graduated from Northwestern University in Illinois, where she earned her degree in Journalism. And after graduating from Northwestern University, she pursued further studies from the University of California Berkeley School of Law. Helane Morrison is also a speaker for issues on legal matters that can arise through investment advisories and compliance. And she is also a member of the board for Regional Parks Foundation and the American Bar Association.
