With recent years seeing such a huge boost in technology and fitness, Smart Socks are the newest product to hit the sports store shelves. Tracking steps when running or walking has become an obsession like no other. Athletes and runners now have to ability to see how far they have run and can track data in order to reach personal records and goals. For the everyday person, most trackers push people to at least hit 10,000 steps a day. Steve Murray tells us that there are bras, wristbands, shirts, hats, even necklaces that help “track” how many steps a person runs or walks every day. For the makers at Sensoria Fitness, the idea of strapping on multiple pieces of equipment to track the same amount of steps is overbearing. Why not just integrate technology into clothes that people already wear?
Davide Vigano who is the co-founder and CEO of Sensoria Fitness recently made this claim to BuzzFeed News. Wristbands and trackers, like FitBit and Jawbone, are expected to decrease in sales in the next two years while the market for wearable tracking apparel is expected to rise. The company’s Smart Socks will be able to track the owner’s: cadence, steps, foot contact time, ascent, descent, pace, distance, and form. The socks will initially start at $200 for a pair. Included are two pairs of socks, an anklet, and an anklet charger. The company is hoping to make a lasting and very impacting impression on runners and the running community.
