After noticing that the snacks market was proliferated with substandard products, Livio Bisterzo sought to come up with a revolutionary product that would go against the grain. He assembled a team of professionals whose work was to create an exceptional line of snacks. This is how Hippeas came into being. Hippeas are organic chickpea puffs, which are vegan, kosher, and gluten free. In addition, every pack contains 100 calories, and a high fiber content.
Livio asserts that his team had to work hard to come up with a healthy snack. Besides delivering on taste, they aimed at creating a product that would appeal to socially conscious consumers. Pushing the product in the market was also difficult but luckily, they managed to get a breakthrough. Hippeas recently joined Starbucks’ portfolio of ready to eat snacks. Its two main flavors, Far Out Fajita and Vegan White Cheddar are currently available in over 7000 locations throughout the US. This is a major leap considering that Hippeas has been in production for slightly over one year.
How Hippeas Came into Being
Livio Bisterzo partnered with a food manufacturing firm to create Hippeas in May 2015. After various attempts, they came up with the final product. The production team started using chickpeas as the main ingredient. A lot of focus was directed towards ensuring that the final product would have the correct taste, bite, texture, and shape. This ultimately helped since the team was able to create an exclusive product, which is culturally relevant besides having the ability to address diverse customer trends. Starbucks stocks Hippeas due to the massive popularity that the snack has. The chain has a tradition of stocking high quality products, which meet the dietary needs of its customers.
