Stream Energy Formalizes Its Philanthropic Activities through the Formation of Stream Cares

May 10, 2019 - Author: steph

Stream Energy describes itself as a corporation with a heart which enjoys giving back to its community in Texas. The firm, which was featured on Patch, does so by identifying new and strategic ways to do so while working closely with the company’s associates. As a direct energy sales business, the company enjoys a loyal network of customers who also buy the firm’s connected living services such as mobile phone plans. Stream serves corporates and private residents alike with discounted clean energy, virtual doctors, and telemedicine, among other services.

Over the past decade, Stream Energy has engaged in philanthropy work without a formal structure. Recently, the company formalized its philanthropy arm through the formation of Stream Cares which will harmonize and streamline all its giving not only financially but also in kind and time wise. In the past, the firm has worked with various organizations to reach out to its community where intervention is needed most.

Together with Hope Supply Co., Stream Energy is tackling the problem of homelessness in Texas by providing financial support towards the activities of Hope Supply Co. which gives school supplies, diapers, and clothing among other items to homeless children. To also provide these children with the opportunity to enjoy various activities like other normal children, the Stream has partnered with Hope Supply Co. over the past four years to facilitate these children’s engagement at a local water park by paying for their lunch and entrance fees.

When natural disasters strike, Stream Energy is usually one of the first companies to spring to action aimed at combating the situation. Several years ago when several tornados hit North Texas, the company together with organizations such as the Salvation Army raised funds to help those who had lost their homes and businesses. The energy supply firm matched the funds raised by its associates doubling its contribution towards this particular cause.

Additionally, the American people and businesses are forever grateful for the sacrifice made by the country’s servicemen and women together with their families in ensuring the country is safe and secure. To morally and financially appreciate the work of military veterans in its area, not only did Stream Energy write a check but it also catered for the transportation needs of less fortunate veterans and their families to a famous Texas restaurant for a much-deserved lunch.

Additionally, for ten military daughters, Stream Energy provided essential support and catered for all expenses associated with co-hosting the American Girl Doll Experience. Here, the girls chose their preferred American Girl doll before heading to the American Girl Café for lunch.

Ryan Seacrest and His Battle With Weight Loss

May 30, 2018 - Author: steph

Ryan Seacrest is well-known in today’s pop-culture because he’s been the host of the popular show American Idol, produced many hit TV and radio shows, and is a host on KIIS FM, featuring “Ryan’s Roses” in the mornings. Ryan Seacrest was born in Dunwoody, Georgia, and what many people don’t know is that growing up, he was an overweight child. Seacrest, now 38 years old, has been able to lose the weight and uses fitness as a way to remain healthy, slim and less stressed throughout his life.

He recently did an interview with Men’s Journal to share how and why he incorporates fitness into his daily life. Seacrest mentions that scheduling his workouts for the week is essential and doesn’t like to cancel them. He needs to exercise throughout any given day to allow for a more productive week. Sometimes when at work, Seacrest will do brief, light workouts in between commercial breaks, such as push-ups and quick exercises with light weights. Something Seacrest has found to be useful is keeping lockers with a change of gym clothes at his hotels to allow him to fit in quick workouts.

As far as the gym goes, Seacrest spends a minimum of 5 hours per week at the gym. He has a variety of fitness trainers that help guide him in his favorite circuit and core workouts. Seacrest loves to swim and, on some weekends, will go swimming for relaxation and exercise. For healthy snacks, Seacrest enjoys drinking vegetable juices and eating nuts such as almonds or cashews. On the contrary, he also mentions that his favorite cheat meals are things like penne pasta, tacos and pizza. Seacrest opens up about how he grew up as a “chubby kid” and that he was teased for it. Since he remembers the negative feelings that resulted from being teased, Seacrest strives to remain healthy and fit in his adult life.

Can George Soros Save Capitalism?

August 12, 2017 - Author: steph

Billionaire philanthropist George Soros is still fighting the good fight. He has long been a supporter of Democratic politicians and progressive movements. In the last presidential election, Soros pledged over $26 million to Super PACs that supported Hillary Clinton.

Although Clinton failed to win the presidency, Soros has continued to support causes and organizations that his Open Societies Foundation believe in.

While the presidency of Donald Trump is seen as an existential threat by many leaders around the world, Soros himself has famously said the Trump was “doing the work of ISIS” by coming up with increasingly harsh policies against Muslims, he also sees capitalism as a threat as well. Read more about George’s life story at

In an opinion piece published in The Atlantic, Soros states that capitalism, as it is being practiced today, is endangering our democratic and open society.

It is not that Soros dislikes capitalism, in fact, he is probably one of the greatest capitalists who ever lived. As a hedge fund manager, he has amassed a fortune estimated at over $25 billion.

Soros’s argument for the threat of capitalism is in the way it has been implemented in the West over the last few decades. Capitalism has become more of an authoritarian type of system, much like communism and Naziism were in the past.

These ideologies, like capitalism now, claimed to have held the ultimate truth but could only use force to control society and impinge on the rights of individual citizens.

In almost every newscast or newspaper, you can see instances where companies and governments have trampled on the rights of individuals in order to benefit the bottom line of businesses. There is always that argument that the “free market” is much more efficient than governments and that capitalism will solve every problem.

As Soros points out, this laissez-faire form of capitalism, where businesses can do whatever they want, is dangerous. It is dangerous for the people, for the planet, and for future generations.

George Soros is not trying to do away with capitalism. He just wants it to be a more a more democratic and open system.

To date, George Soros has given away more than $12 billion of his fortune to help organizations and individuals who are striving to spread freedom and democracy around the world. These contributions are made through his Open Societies Foundation.

If anyone can save capitalism it is a person like Soros. As someone who has benefited from it, he can steer it in the right direction. Follow George on
