Alastair Borthwick was well-known for the life that he lived full of adventure and numerous experiences and had the ability that he had for storytelling. It has been said that there are few humans who have ever reached the ability of storytelling that was possessed by Alastair Borthwick. He would write on the human condition both the good and the bad. He was also able to transition into a career as a media personality in both broadcasting and television where he was deemed a natural. Many people have described Alastair Borthwick as a storyteller who was captivating and transcendent. However despite the success that he experienced he was never an individual who was seeking fortune or fame. All that he truly desired was the ability to live a simple life where he would be capable of telling the stories that he wished to tell.
He dropped out of high school at the age of 16 in order to pursue a career working at the local newspaper the Glasgow Herald. It was during his time working at the Glasgow Herald hiking through the mountains and hillsides of the Scottish Highlands that he would spend thinking about beginning his literary career. He was capable of becoming friendly with just about anyone that crossed his path during these adventures through the Highlands.
In the year of 1935, Alastair Borthwick would move to the city of London in England to work at the Daily Mirror. He only worked there for one year before looking for other opportunities. He would eventually find the chance to work at the press club at the Empire Exhibition before he would later go on to join the BBC as a scriptwriter for several of the broadcasting stations programs.
While Alastair Borthwick has left behind a rather impressive legacy he himself was not too concerned with payment status. In fact, he would likely be appalled to look at the way that the world for members and now as he simply considered himself a journeyman writer. Someone who is capable of doing an all right job on most subjects. However, it does seem as if he has outdone himself more than he was aware of.
