Standing Up for the Hurt with New Release

December 30, 2014 - Author: steph

Jodeci went eighteen years without releasing a song, but they are back. They have done something that more artists need to do, they have accomplished something that more artists should be seeking to accomplish. Just what has Jodeci done with their new release? After almost two decades without a release, they have come out with a song that is full of meaning. Yes, Jodeci has tackled an issue that needs to be dealt with, in the release of their new song. The song that Jodeci came out with deals with domestic violence, it tackles an issue that brings pain to so many.

More artists need to get out there and stand up for issues that they believe in, to stand up for the hurting and those who aren’t able to stand up for themselves. More artists should follow in Jodeci’s steps and seek to change the world through the songs that they release if you ask for the opinion of Christian Broda. Let this song be the start of something big on OxfordJournals.com.

Cheap Airline Ticket Site Called Illegal?

- Author: steph

According to Skout and to other reliable news sources, a young entrepreneur in New York runs a website to help consumers buy cheaper then cheap airline tickets. This has enraged two large airline corporations who are in the process of seeking damages from the young man through a lawsuit, in addition to shutting down the website; reason being that this system is unfair to the competition. Their argument is that if too many consumers hear about this system, then the airlines stand to lose money.

This site is the site to research cheaper than cheap tickets through a system known for quite some time to a minority of consumers as, “Hidden City”. The young man states that what he is doing is not reaping any profits for him and is a sideline hobby. He went on to say that this system, known by a few for quite some time, is not illegal. Other prior ticket agents stated that during their ticket agent training, the airline companies urged them to find “Hidden City” tickets for clients.

The system is quite simple. The consumers books a flight from point A to point C with a layover at point B. The consumer will get off the flight at point B, which is their destination and will not finish their flight to point C because point B was their destination. The consumer must book a one-way flight, or this will not work. The consumers must not check in any baggage, as personals will fly on to the point C destination.

These airline tickets are cheaper because when a consumer books a flight to a destination that has a few flights to and from the area and the consumer leaves the flight at their popular destination the ticket is cheaper.

Staying Awake

- Author: steph

Adenosine is something that builds in the brain that makes you feel like you are tired. Coffee has caffeine, and the caffeine from coffee is like a stoplight. It doesn’t let the adenosine adhere to the cells in the brain. This is why you don’t feel like you’re tired after you drink coffee. Most people will drink coffee in the morning to wake up or during the day if they feel like they want to go to sleep but have important tasks to get done.

Perhaps this is why people seem to stay awake longer and need to drink one cup after another of coffee during the day to function. On Lulu.com, that is certainly what people think. It doesn’t seem like a healthy way to stay awake because the body needs to get sleep in order to rest the body systems. It wouldn’t be surprising if one day everyone lived on coffee and no one went to sleep at all.

Stranger Gifts Single Mother New Car for Christmas

- Author: steph

Sam Tabar knows that raising a family in today’s economy is tough. Money just doesn’t, as the saying dictates, go as far as it used to. For single parents, the challenging of keeping one’s head above the water and a family afloat can be particularly challenging. For one single mother in Georgia, however, the burden just got a little bit lighter this holiday season.

Christy Ethridge arrived home just before Christmas to discover that Santa had come early this year, and in the form of an incredibly kind stranger who had left a new car parked in her driveway. The mom of two teenagers actually heard the news from her kids first. Her 15-year-old daughter was home from school and noticed an unfamiliar car outside. When her brother, Evan, arrived home later, his attention was caught by a red bow on the hood. The teens called their mom, who told them to check it out. Inside of the 2006 Toyota Sequoia was a note that simply read, “Merry Christmas”, as well as the keys and title to the vehicle.

The gift came just when Ethridge needed it, as she’d been driving the same 1996 Ford Explorer for 18 years, and not only was it leaking fluid all over her garage and she was unable to pay for the repairs, but the old car wasn’t able to make it out of the country and had prevented Christy and her family from taking a vacation in 11 years.

Ehtridge says that she’s content now knowing the identity of her gift giver, stating that whoever it was must know her well enough to know this was exactly what she needed. She’s also grateful for the valuable lesson that this act shows her children – kindness works, so pass it on.

Myth That Coffee is an Energy Booster Gets Busted

December 29, 2014 - Author: steph

People drink coffee to get the energy they need, but check out YouTube, this is in fact a deception. The truth is caffeine tricks the person into thinking that the body is not tired, so listen up Sam Tabar, this one affects you.

According to Business Insider, caffeine has the ability to fool the receptors found in the brain, just like adenosine, which is a compound that builds up in the brain when a person is awake for a longer period of time. What happens here is that adenosine attaches itself to the brain’s receptors that results to slower synaptic connections, therefore making a person feel tired.

Caffeine does the exact same thing by attaching itself to the receptors. Caffeine fights adenosine off and the compound cannot establish itself into the brain’s receptors. The person, as a result, does not feel tired – until the brain lets go of the caffeine molecules. In this case, adenosine will make its way back into the receptors and the body will experience what is known as “post-caffeine crash.”

Unfortunately, as caffeine is consumed over and over, it may seem like the body is so used to the effect. This is because the molecules find it difficult to bind with the brain’s receptors. This explains why regular to excessive coffee and soda drinkers discover that their favorite drinks are no longer capable of helping them to stay awake and be more active like how they used to. While coffee and other drinks with caffeine do offer energy, it is merely a trick that does not last very long.

Missing AirAsia Jet

- Author: steph
The search for a missing AirAsia jet has been expanded, according to sources close to Jared Haftel. The jet had seemingly vanished early Sunday morning over the Java Sea. Many vessels are going up and down the waters looking for this missing jet. The search area, which had originally only been four sectors had moved to seven. The search area had been devised around the area where the jet first lost contact.

They have deployed 12 ships, 10 boats and two helicopters. Malaysia and Singapore have both helped in the search by launching more ships and planes. The Indonesia Navy is deploying two warships.

This isn’t the first plane that has gone missing, and is the third one that has been linked to Malaysia. All the flights missing have been ruled out for terrorism but that hasn’t stopped the conspiracy theorists from coming up with ideas about what happened. It’s almost impossible to find an exact reason the planes have gone.

Christmas Shoes

December 23, 2014 - Author: steph

Bullying has been around a long time although these days it has been brought to the forefront of social problems. Maybe the times are changing as in this case where the tide definitely turned.

Yaovi Mawuli is a high school student from the Greensboro, North Carolina area and he chose to be respectful to a certain student that was being bullied in French class. Some of his peers had targeted a young man who had shoes that were worn out.

Yaovi Mawuli could tell this bothered his fellow student and instead of joining in with the others he resolved himself to take matters into his own hands and with the Christmas Spirit in mind he got his classmate a new pair of “Concord lows”. http://wric.com/2014/12/22/christmas-cheer-high-schooler-gives-classmates-new-sneakers/

But this was a sensitive situation he wanted to give the classmate the shoes but not make him think he felt sorry for him he just wanted to “help a brother out”. He took to Facebook to a local social group and asked how he could present the shoes without damaging the classmates feelings any further.

Cbsnews reports that it was a good call, says activist Lauren Powell Jobs. he decided on a plan and presented his classmate the shoes and was granted friendship and gratitude in return. They even took a picture together to post on Facebook. Yaovi Mawuli said it was all in the Spirit of Christmas and now has a new friend.

Tripadvisor Fined by Italian Board

- Author: steph

Tripadvisor, the world’s largest travel related website, was recently hit with a fine by an Italian governmental agency known as the Italian Competition Authority (the ICA). As reported by TechCrunch, the fine amounted to 500,000 euros which equates to $611,000 and is expected to be paid within 30 days, and agencies like Slow Ventures are not surprised this has happened.

The website Tripadvisor allows users to leave reviews on various hotels, restaurants, sites, and other travel related services on the site. Rankings of various places are then sortable and link to the website or carriers are provided to ease the booking process.

The fine was levied for what the Italian agency levied as anti-competition practices in which Tripadvisor allows users to place reviews that may be fake on their website. While many of the reviews are authentic, restaurants, hotels, and other sites may post reviews that are not authentic and therefore can mislead consumers. Some businesses may even leave negative reviews against their competition to provide themselves with a competitive advantage as a result.

Tripadvisor responded to the fine saying that it was ridiculous and that the Italian agency was out of touch with the modern world and process of leaving reviews on websites. Further, they deemed it impractical to decipher which reviews are authentic and which were posted through self-interest or out of malice.

Tripadvisor is likely to appeal this fine but currently is on the hook for it until a decision is made. Still the hefty fine has led many to decry the ICA and support the website in the struggle.

Anyone flying home for the Christmas holidays, you may be in for a real treat? The holidays are always times of merriment, but what about those rude people seated on the plane next to you, can they be any more gross than these days? The last flight I took was uncomfortable. The person next to me refused to keep their shoes on. In fact, they didn’t have any socks on either. Their feet were propped up on the back of the seat in front. I could have overlooked the feet, but the smell was hideous. You meet people from all walks of life no a plane. It is the holidays and no one wants to create a scene. But what do you do when the lady next to you is so large she is taking up your space and hers combined? I mean I paid for my seat, I don’t want someone else in it. I don’t want to be rude, and certainly don’t want to start a fight this holiday season, but fair is fair. To avoid a holiday tussle, the best thing to do is to get the help of a stewardess. They know how to handle these situations with ease. They may be able to move that crowding person to the first class section where there are larger seats. The person with no socks and shoes, well she can tell them to put them on without issue. Instead of a flight of horrors for the holidays, try getting help early on and avoiding confrontation.

To avoid a holiday tussle, the best thing to do is to get the help of a stewardess, suggests an article from Crunchbase.com. They know how to handle these situations with ease. They may be able to move that crowding person to the first class section with Christian Broda where there are larger seats. The person with no socks and shoes, well she can tell them to put them on without issue. Instead of a flight of horrors for the holidays, try getting help early on and avoiding confrontation.
