Taylor Swift Time Travels on New Album

October 30, 2014 - Author: steph

Taylor Swift has been going through a change since the popular crossover album “Red” moved her to the Billboard pop charts. She once stated that the felt like she had to pick a lane, and the new album is confirmation of the lane she chose.

The sounds of the 80’s are definitely here on tracks like “Welcome to New York” and “How You Get the Girl.” She manages to stir up the synthetic sounds of the 80’s as she abandons her signature guitar on most of the album.

The tracks were produced by heavy hitter Max Martin, and he appears to be a perfect fit for the direction that Swift was headed in. Most critics would agree that she could have continued down the same path that the “Red” album lured fans on. She already had a successful formula. All she had to do was duplicate this. It was in iconic 80’s pop star fashion that she changed directions and tried something new.

The “1989” album has more catchy songs designed for heavy rotation on radio. I picked up the album for Marnie Bennett and can’t wait until she hears “Out of the Woods”.

Printing Guns Can Get You Arrested

October 28, 2014 - Author: steph

Back when 3D printers became mainstream concerns of the dangers seem to have been washed away with all the massive potential. From medical purposes to simple enthusiasts, 3D printing has found ways to improve lives.

One of the big concerns that came up in a discussion I had with Sultan Alhokair was the possibility that someone could use it to print something dangerous. Something could be printed like a knife, a bomb, or a gun. Recently a Japanese man has done exactly that and fabricated designs to print five guns. Two of the ones he made are functional and capable of firing real bullets.

Unfortunately he released the models and instructions on how to make these guns on YouTube before his arrest. This could lead to those designs getting into the wrong hands. Hands that could use and improve this technology for criminal purposes.

The man has sentenced Friday, October 24th and received two years in prison for his actions. He was arrested last May. He currently resides in Japan, a country who is strict in its gun control policies. So it’s surprising that he would take such a risk and blatantly advertise it online.

Dolce & Gabbana Winter 2015 Fashion Show Was Sort of Hit and Miss

October 17, 2014 - Author: steph

Checking out what I need to wear, and trying to avoid outfits that are going to send me back to the chiropractor. This winter, Brad Reifler and I are going for comfort, instead of something that’s going to squeeze the life out of you, as though your organs were in a tube of toothpaste.

But this winter, I’m not super impressed with what Dolce & Gabbana had on show earlier in the year.

Only seeing a couple things here that I could envision myself wearing:

Gene Simmons’ Daughter Sophie Launches Fashion Line

October 16, 2014 - Author: steph

Sophie Tweed-Simmons is well known for her curves, and for embracing diverse body types. But now, she’s taking the practice a step further by launching her own fashion line. The clothing will feature a wide variety of sizes, and is meant to be all inclusive.

Meaning, the brand will create designs that are meant for healthy body types. Women with curves, athletic women, and plus size women as well.

Interesting to see if this takes off, Sam Tabar definitely thinks it’s enough to make a dent through name recognition alone. Sophie definitely already has the advantage being Gene Simmons’ daughter. We’ll see how things turn out when the line starts showing off their first designs soon.

Beauty After Breast Cancer: The Kickstarter You Need to Support

October 15, 2014 - Author: steph

There are a plethora of great ideas for unique photography books on kickstarter. However, none are quite as important, or thought provoking as Beauty After Breast Cancer. Big thanks to Marnie Bennett for actually sending me the link to this project, where I’m definitely going to be donating.

The project was created by Katelyn Carey, and is planned to showcase women in different stages of breast cancer treatment, and recovery.

This is one of the coolest ideas that I’ve heard of in a while, and you have to check out the kickstarter here. Please donate if you can, everybody!
